Biography
At the age of 18, Jim entered the work force as a lawn care technician for Old Fox Lawn Care in Chelmsford, MA. In 1989 he moved to Portland, Maine to open a lawn care branch for Lawnmark. He was promoted to regional manager in 1993 and moved to Albany, N.Y., overseeing operations in Albany, Maine and Vermont. In 1995, after Lawnmark was purchased by Barefoot Grass, the company moved Jim to Nashua, N.H., and added New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut to his existing region. At the end of 1996 Barefoot Grass sold to TruGreen prompting Jim to start Lawn Dawg. Since its founding in 1997, Lawn Dawg grew to 11 branch locations serving over 32,000 residential customers before selling to TruGreen in the fall of 2017.
Jim, a 38-year veteran of the lawn care industry, has a long history of giving back to his industry. He served on the board of directors of the Professional Lawn Care Association of America for 6 years and spent a term as president in 2004. He served as president of the Massachusetts Association of Lawn Care Professionals in 2003. He served an additional 4 years as a board member of the National Association of Landscape Professionals. Jim has spent countless hours fighting regulatory issues on behalf of his industry. Jim resides in Hollis, NH with his wife and daughter.
