MARCUS DUCK OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY NAMES OUTSANDING EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

Fairfax, Va., (Mar. 21, 2018) - On, March 17, at the closing ceremony of the National Collegiate Landscape Competition, the National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation announced the recipient of its Outstanding Educator of the Year Award, Marcus Duck.

Duck holds a Master’s Degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University where he is an advisor, instructor and Ag Tech Program Coordinator. In addition to teaching, he plays a critical role in student’s careers, acting as liaison with outside companies and the industry – connecting students with internships and career opportunities.

Foundation board member, Roger Phelps of STIHL, Inc. presented the award during the NCLC closing ceremony. Duck was nominated by a number of former students and faculty colleagues. He expressed his gratitude to his family and students when receiving the award.

“Marcus has been a great champion of the industry, a great educator, and a great partner in hosting NCLC,” said NALP CEO Sabeena Hickman, CAE. “We are pleased to recognize his work in supporting careers and increasing the level of professionalism in the industry.”
